Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge - Non-Traditional Christmas Colours

Two weeks since I showed you my sweet little Stella fairy for the Holly Jolly Fairy challenge. It was only just Christmas and New Year, and now we are halfway through February. Bring on the spring. The rational conclusion is also that it must be time for a new challenge over at Holly Jolly! This time the theme is Non-Traditional Christmas Colours. Get creative, go beyond the usual red and green and get your creative mojo going.

As usual the Holly Jolly DT have created lots of cards for your enjoyment and inspiration. And we have three sponsors for the challenge offering great prizes to our winners. This time we are sponsored by Fitztown, Stitchy Bear and Di's Digis.

For this challenge I chose to use a beautiful image from Stitchy Bear called Winterville. Unfortunately it seems to be removed from their shop as I can't find it anymore. But they have lots of other great images, so hop on over and see if you find something that will inspire you. I wasn't quite sure how to tackle the image to not make a complete mess out of it so I decided to go for a monochromatic purple colour scheme with a pop of yellow for contrast. I coloured parts of the image with Copics, and then used foam applicators to ink the edges of the image. I added a touch of ice stickles to the trees for some oomph. The background is created using a snowflake stencil and inks. I used my brand new dies to frame the image and sentiment, and put it all together. For the finishing touch, I die cut some snowflakes, added distress stickles and put them together to an embellishment with an adhesive gem in the middle.

I would like to enter the following challenges:
Crimbo Crackers - Charming
Clear it Out - Holiday stash, yellow or gold things (used yellow card, yellow ice stickles, snowflake dies and yellow ink from my stash)
Fantastic Tuesday - Use a die
Shopping our Stash - Inspired by a movie (Ice storm, which may seem a weird choice for a serene winter scene, but it was set in a small town and who knows what's going on inside those peaceful looking houses, which in a way was a theme for the movie as well...)
ABC challenge - D is for die cut

oh wow, this is lovely AND i'm very impressed that you've used "ice storm" as inspiration, it really does look like the (seemingly) calm tranquil landscape of the film! thanks for SHOPPING YOUR STASH with us this week! :)
